![]() I am Jess. Born and raised in Arlington, VA. I left after high school for sunny San Diego (University of) and graduated with a degree in Communication Studies, and minors in International Relations and Visual Arts. Now I’m 24, back at home, and working for a great company, which happens to be in the private contracting business. I love beautiful sunsets and oceans, traveling, writing, making photos, meeting new people, exploring new places, my friends, family, and of course Troy. I am the smart, cute, perfect, navigator, editor, and interpreter in this couple. ![]() Me, I’m Troy, 28 years of age, produce of West Tisbury, MA. I went to Plymouth State College (now University) in cold ass New Hampshire (a beautiful state) on the five year plan and graduated with a degree in Public Management. After a few post graduate years back on hometown Martha’s Vineyard enjoying summers and hometown life, I moved down to the D.C area with Jessica. Since moving to the D.C area I have worked with a number of companies and in a number of different positions. Family, Jessica, friends, traveling, rain, bad weather in general, the beach, sunsets, good people, music: loud, driving, and soccer are what keeps me sane. I am the older and wiser, the decisive and imperfect (I think a good thing?) of the couple, im the idea man! ![]() We met participating in a program called Semester at Sea: an extraordinary journey that carries students all over the world on a meager version of a cruise ship. The ship stopped in 10 countries around the world; our voyage started in Vancouver, British Columbia, sailed across the North Pacific to Kobe, Japan, then down to Hong Kong, PRC (with separate side trips to Beijing and the Great Wall), on to Ho Chi Mihn City, Vietnam, then to Sri Racha, Thailand (with side trips to Bangkok and beaches), to Chennai, India, over to Dar es Salam, Tanzania (with trips to Zanzibar, refugee camps, and a safari in the mix), down to Cape Town, South Africa, across the Atlantic to Salvador, Brazil (which included an Amazon sail and a Rio adventure), up to Havana, Cuba, and ended in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. We studied when at sea and traveled while on land. Our love of traveling, new adventures and ideas, and sunsets brought us together and kept us together despite a few years of a long distance relationship. After Jess graduated, we moved in together in a house in Falls Church, VA, and from here have been planning the trip of our life. ![]() |
